In this three part series, Jay takes a trip back in time, talking to friends, historians, local business owners, and local dignitaries, to reveal to the audience some of the important - and, perhaps, less well known - historical facts and cultural distinctions of this very special part of UK's capital city. Join him on a journey from the Shoreditch site of a theatre where Shakespeare performed, to the story of the original Jack the Lad, as he discovers the extraordinary underground engineering beneath the River Thames, and meets the Pearly King of Mile End, finally hearing about Sylvia Pankhurst's suffragettes, and how the East End coped with Hitler's Blitz of London during the Second World War (WWII).—nandosnut
